What do we 2012 Variety 4WD Challenge

(Proudly supported by Coleman)

Couples, brothers, in-laws and best friends came together to raise a record breaking $500,000 on the recent 2012 Variety 4WD Challenge, proudly supported by Coleman.

Thirty teams took part in the nine-day adventure from Mt Newman to Kakadu. The group was welcomed to Newman with a special dinner sponsored by Fortescue Metals Group. With spirits high, they set off for a 5,000km journey through private stations, a Cable Beach sunset, a foray in the Fitzroy River, a dip in the mighty Ord and sightseeing in the Bungle Bungles.

While in Broome, participants presented an electric adjustable bed to ten year old Anthony and wheelchair to six year old Matt. The 4WDrivers were then in for a surprise of their own when award-winning Australian country singer Beccy Cole put on concert under the stars in the Bungles.

Bluewater Grill Executive Chef, Brad Leahy, and Scott Richardson worked around the clock to keep the troops happy, serving up five star meals at every stop.

Though we commend every team for their commitment to raising the minimum $8,000 donation per vehicle (in addition to paying for all event expenses out of their own pocket), the Magnificent Seven fundraising awards were hotly contested. Many teams went above and beyond with their fundraising, including 4WD 55 who raised more than $50,000. Top honours were taken out by 4WD 98 Clive Harts and Con Collica who raised more than $60,000!
Variety WA thanks major sponsor, Don and Darinka Brooker of Coleman Camping for their continued and invaluable support. We could not do it without them.

We also extend special thanks to 4WD Chair, Evan Briers, all the event officials and support crew for their tireless efforts and hard work behind the scenes to keep everyone safe, happy and entertained.
